Batch after batch: what Kazakhstan’s food industry expects from an ingredient supplier
Kazakhstan’s food industry continues to grow: according to government data, food production reached 4 trillion tenge in 2025—an increase of 8.4%—with growth hitting 14.7% in the first half of 2026. The larger the batch of baked goods or desserts, the costlier any deviation from the recipe becomes.
For industrial production, the right taste and price are not enough. An ingredient must perform consistently on the production line, withstand heating or freezing, and yield a predictable texture. Consequently, procurement specialists require specifications, samples, and storage guidelines in advance, as well as the opportunity to discuss the product with the supplier’s food technologist.

Reaching the Trial Batch Stage

"Made in Russia" is a state program designed to promote domestic products under a unified national brand. It is implemented by the Russian Export Center. The program combines voluntary certification with trade shows, business missions, business meetings, and digital platforms where foreign businesses can connect with Russian manufacturers.
For a confectionery factory, bakery, or distributor in Kazakhstan, this serves as a convenient entry point: one can find a supplier offering certified products and proceed to discuss samples, volumes, logistics, and technical specifications. However, it is important to check exactly which products are covered by the certificate.

The ingredient is adjusted for production
One of the participants in the export ecosystem is the Lev-Tolstovsky Dairy Plant. The company produces dairy and fat products for confectionery and bakery manufacturers, prepared food producers, and the HoReCa sector. The plant's capacity is 700 tons per month, and its product range includes over 35 products.
The product line includes "Kremcheese," soft margarines from PateMilk, dairy and fat creams, and dessert bases. An in-house laboratory monitors product characteristics, and the basic recipe can be customized to meet customer production parameters, including moisture, fat content, and viscosity. For industrial clients, this means more predictable results from batch to batch.
The plant has received "Made in Russia" national brand certificates for its margarines and "Kremcheese": these are the products it presents to its international partners with the program's seal.

A route that's already operational

The plant's products have been supplied to Kazakhstan through partners since 2023. Annual deliveries amount to approximately 600 tons, and the products are available in Taraz, Almaty, and other regions. Labeling is available in both Russian and Kazakh.
Despite market instability, the Lev-Tolstovsky Dairy Plant remains a reliable partner, strictly fulfilling all its obligations. Free samples of any product are available upon request.
The minimum order quantity is 500 kg per item. This volume allows the industrial customer to test the ingredient on their production line before making a larger purchase.
As a result, the Kazakhstani partner receives not just a product from the catalog, but the opportunity to request samples, agree on specifications, and calculate storage costs in advance. "Made in Russia" tools help initiate communication, and the existing supply route helps quickly translate this into practical cooperation.
